AbstractThis case study documents the narratives of "community empowerment" initiatives by the Madiga Community towards the eradication of manual scavenging and restoration of the rights and dignity of manual scavengers. It uses a qualitative research methodology with grounded theory approach to document and analyze the discourse of Key Activists and Community Leaders of Safai Karamchari Kavalu Samiti (SKSS) and struggle of THAMATE to claim their space in Public Advocacy.
